VeteransPlus.org: Pro Bono Financial Planning Advice for Veterans

It isn’t easy to be frugal. Some of us are born that way (at ease NAZI!) but others need a helping nudge. Since I don’t give financial advice, I thought it only fair that I put you in the direction of someone that actually should. VeteransPlus.org is a non-profit organization that provides financial education and coaching to veterans and their families. One of the services they offer is pro bono financial planning advice. This service is available to veterans of all ages and service branches.

What’s in it for Me?

There are many reasons why veterans should consider signing up for the VeteransPlus.org Pro Bono Financial Planning Advice program. One reason is that it is a free service. Veterans can get help with their finances without having to worry about the cost. Unfortunately other financial advisors that offer services are hawking their own funds, which may be fairly priced or not. Hard to say without having that initial knowledge. That is where VeteransPlus.org can help establish a -10 level of fiscal knowledge. The program is provided by experienced financial planners..that unlike me…have training. These planners have a deep understanding of the unique financial challenges that veterans face. They can help veterans to develop a financial plan that meets their individual needs.

Reviews and Complaints

I don’t have experience (yet) VeteransPlus.org, so I did let TheGoogle do some searching to find that the organization has received positive reviews from veterans who have used the Pro Bono Financial Planning Advice program. These veterans have praised the program for its quality, accessibility, and confidentiality. However, there have also been some complaints about the program. Some veterans have complained that the program is not available in all states. Others have complained that the program is not available to veterans who are not low-income. VeteransPlus.org seems to have a cool signature line with lots of letters, such as membership in the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). and is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent organization that accredits non-profit organizations. Elon Musk hasn’t shut it down, but your mileage may vary.

Canary in the Coal Mine

I am a guy that will taste something horrible and then offer it to my friends to share in the misery. I haven’t tried VeteransPlus.org, but I still want you to try it. Let me know in the comments any good or bad experiences.
